hand made loaf bread

These are the basic directions found on the back of a pack of active dry yeast.

Using the proper temperature water is not an option. Your yeast will not
activate if the water is too cold or too hot.
Foamy yeast mixture will form after it stands at least 10 minutes.

Now mix 1 1/2 of flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt and 1/4 cup of butter. Once thats mixed add 3/4 cups of warm water (105-110*) and the yeast mixture. Add in the remaining 1 1/4 cups of flour and knead by hand for at least 10 minutes. Set a timer. You want a smooth dough. Let it rest covered in a ball for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes of sitting
 the dough should be soft.

On a floured surface roll out the dough to be a little longer
length and width wise than the pan you'll be using.

Roll the dough "the short way" ...

And tuck the ends under!!

Lay your loaf in a greased baking pan and cover
for at least one hour to proof.

Its done when it has doubled in size.

Bake in a preheated oven at 375 for 30 minutes.

You'll always have bread around
if you know how to make it yourself!!!
